O proxecto foi considerado no seu momento como un logro harm\u00f3nico de funcionalidade e elegancia de li\u00f1as.<\/p>\r\n<p>Sendo bispo diocesano monse\u00f1or Jacinto Argaya Goicoechea, aut\u00e9ntico valedor de que a Domus fose unha realidade, colocouse e bendixo a primeira pedra en agosto de 1961. Estando a\u00ednda en construci\u00f3n foi visitada polo nuncio da s\u00faa santidade en Espa\u00f1a, monse\u00f1or Antonio Riberi, quen a bautizou co nome de \u00abDomus Ecclesiae\u00bb.<\/p>\r\n<p>Funcionou orixinalmente, ademais de como residencia episcopal, de convitorio sacerdotal agregado \u00e1 Universidade Pontificia de Salamanca; tam\u00e9n acoller\u00eda a sede de diversas asociaci\u00f3ns e movementos de seglares que desempe\u00f1aban tarefas apost\u00f3licas. En 1966 instalouse nas s\u00faas dependencias a primeira emisora de radio diocesana, a primeira de Galicia, incorporada \u00e1 Cadena de Ondas Populares Espa\u00f1olas (COPE).
