San Rom\u00e1n de Montoxo tiene su iglesia en lo m\u00e1s hondo y frondoso de un valle. Conserva en la pared interior de la actual iglesia, una landa sepulcral con escudo. Pese a lo desgastado de la inscripci\u00f3n, sabemos que corresponde a un cura de esta parroquia fallecido en 1665: Juan de Vergara y Serantes, que adem\u00e1s de cl\u00e9rigo fue abogado en ejercicio. El \u201cCami\u00f1o dos Romeiros\u201d a San Andr\u00e9s de Teixido cruzaba por San Rom\u00e1n.
